The world is changing, prevention is evolving, and we are imagining the possibilities....
The Summit kicks off Thursday evening with Julie Marie Carrier, national speaker on youth development and author of Be-You-tiful, followed by Adventure Dynamics leading a Youth Low Ropes Course
Adult Track
The Summit Adult Track on Friday begins with opening keynote, Fran Harding, Director, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Mental Health Services (SAMHSA, CMHS), who will present on the impacts of National Health Care Policy on the prevention field and how we can prepare our state for the coming years.
Director Harding is followed by David Stroh, Founding Partner, Bridgeway Partners, LLC & Co-founder, Innovation Associates. David will discuss the important leadership lessons in change of complex systems and how as leaders we can leverage our assets to shift work to address the needs of our communities.
Next Dr. Robert Anda, Senior Scientific Consultant, Center for Disease Control (CDC) & Co-principal Investigator, ACE Study, will present the newest information from the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, how this can inform the new paradigm of the prevention system and the work that has already started in this state.
And lastly we will have Paul Figueroa, Founder, Peace Enforcement, LLC, who will pull it all together for youth and adults with a youth/adult combined keynote during the closing luncheon. Wrapped up by Julie Marie Carrier, award-winning national speaker and author for teens, featured on the NBC’s Today Show, and Emmy-nominated TV personality, in an interactive closing presentation that will make us all think about our role in this newly evolving prevention system.
Youth Track
The Summit Youth Track has three distinct levels to enhance the learning for the youth. Marc Fomby will present Understanding the Strategic Prevention Framework for beginners, while Amber Talburt and Kelly Kasner, American Red Cross, will teach Advocating for your Issue; Lastly Mike Wilson, Tacoma Safe Streets will work with advanced youth on Building a Project -Start to Finish.
We will also have presentations on Message in the Music; Using Graphic Notetaking for Strategic Planning; and Sustainability in Youth Teams.

Adult Prevention Professional Networking Soirée & Youth Ice Cream Social on Thursday, October 14, 2010
We all know how important networking is to the success of our work. Again this year we present the
Adult Prevention Professional Networking Soirée as excellent opportunities to meet up with old friends,
colleges and meet some new partners.
Show and Tell Poster Session on Thursday, October 14, 2010
New this year we have added a Poster Session to the Networking Soiree and Ice Cream Social.
The Poster Session is a casual yet informative way to do a little "Prevention Project Show and Tell". The posters will then be placed in the lobby and remain there for viewing until Friday afternoon.
We invite you to submit one of your successful projects that you believe others could learn from and replicate to the Poster Session.
