  • Caleb Banta-Green, University of Washington Prescription Drug Abuse Trends and Prevention Strategies
    • Presenter Description: Caleb Banta-Green is a research scientist at the UW’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute. He researches prescription drug abuse in his roles as a drug abuse epidemiologist, drug treatment researcher and health services researcher. He has a particular interest in utilizing data to inform prevention strategies and partners with many local, county and State agencies.



  • Sarah Mart, Marin Institute Make Your Mark on Big Alcohol Advertising Tactics
    • Presenter Description: Sarah Mart is a public health researcher and advocate whose recent research projects include exposing alcohol promotion on Facebook, monitoring state alcohol-related legislation, and exposing the wine industry’s influence. Sarah joined Marin Institute in January 2009 after more than ten years directing health promotion and prevention departments at Syracuse University, the University of San Francisco, and The University of Montana-Missoula. Her research interests include public policy, effective prevention strategies, strategic planning, and social justice.



  • Heriberto Escamilla, CSAP's WRET (Western Regional Expert Team) Consultant (NREPP) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices
    • Presenter Description: Heriberto Escamilla, from Monterrey, Mexico received his doctorate in Psychology from CSPP-San Diego. He delivered clinical services at community-based organizations before moving into design, coordination and evaluation. He’s worked for PRA 15 years; conducting engagement and mobilization activities throughout the US; evaluated community-based, crime, substance abuse and teen pregnancy prevention projects; on teams evaluating initiatives in areas like Juvenile Crime, Teen Pregnancy, Partnership for the Public’s Health, California First Five, and Community Action to Fight Asthma.



  • Steve Zuber, Office of the Education Ombudsman Effective Communication with Diverse Families
    • Presenter Description: Steve Zuber, M.Ed. is an Ombudsman in the Office of the Education Ombudsman, a public service agency within the Governor’s Office. This office focuses on educating parents and students about the public school system, supporting parent partnerships in education, and resolving conflict between families and schools. Steve’s career includes 10 years as a classroom teacher in a public high school, and 20 years as a high school counselor. Steve then became Education Liaison for Casey Family Programs, a private foster care agency. Steve became an Ombudsman in 2008. Steve also volunteered on the Yakima County Community Accountability Board for several years.



  • Jan Campain, Red Truck, LLC. 7 Strategies for Success: Sustaining Your Efforts Through Partnership Development
    • Presenter Description: Jan Campain serves ACTUALITY as project manager and directed a grant developing Strategic Business Alliances for Poudre School District. She recently worked under Louisiana's Governor Blanco, as E.D. of Governor's Drug Policy Board, Governor's Office of S&DFSC, and Governor's SPF-SIG. During Hurricane Katrina, she was appointed to the Governor's Hurricane Task Force and later Director of Interstate Housing, the designated contact for state agencies charged with oversight of Louisiana's displaced citizens.
